What’s the lifespan of your wigs & extensions? Our human hair wigs last a minimum of 1 year

What is a lace closure? It is a 4’x4’ lace attachment with individual strands of hair that is made to resemble a natural looking scalp. Individual hairs are secured to a lace fabric with a knot. Closures are typically installed in the center of a wig or a client’s head, and give quite minimal styling variety.

What is a lace frontal? It is a 4’x13’ attachment with individual strands of hair that is made to resemble a natural looking scalp. Individual hairs are secured to a lace fabric with a knot. A frontal extends from ear to ear and allows for more versatility than a closure, where you can achieve styles like ponytails, updos and pulled back styles.

Will the edges of my hairline break off by wearing a wig? The best way to avoid damage to your hairline is to wear wigs without any glue, and not securing combs too tightly. The best way to keep a wig perfectly secure is through an elastic band that is applied on the inside of the wig, or adjustable straps if your wig comes with them. For added security you can use a wig grip (if your unit has the space for it), a few bobby pins on the sides, front and back, or a double-sided adhesive for your frontal.

If I wear a wig will it fall off? If you follow some of our steps to secure it, your wig will not detach. *Note: If someone forcefully pulls your wig, or you do not carefully hold it in place while removing a shirt or dress, it can detach.

How do I care for my wig after it’s been been coloured? Please see the care and maintenance instructions for the products available on our shopping page

NATURAL HAIR CARE

How can I style/maintain my hair during the week: Great and easy styles that can be maintained throughout the week include twist-outs, braid-outs, wash & go’s (ideal for the warmer months), roll & pins and up-do styles, buns, and flat twists etc.

What products should I use? We recommend using products with some of the following ingredients:

  • For low porosity hair: Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Aloe Vera
  • For medium porosity hair: Aloe Vera, Moroccan oil,
  • For high porosity hair: Keratin & Protein rich products (i.e. eggs, avocado, yogurt)
    • What is low-high porosity hair? Hair porosity is the hair’s ability to absorb and retain moisture. Low porosity hair typically loves moisture, but is more difficult to retain it, while medium porosity hair absorbs moisture well. Contrarily, high porosity hair has typically been over processed, or heat damaged so it is more challenging to absorb moisture.
    • How do I know the porosity of my hair? To test your porosity you take a strand of shed hair and place it in a glass or cup filled with water. If your strands remains at the top after 30 seconds, you likely have low porosity hair, if it floats to the middle you have medium porosity hair. If it sinks to the bottom, then you likely have high porosity hair.

What products should I use if I have a sensitive scalp? Two essential oils I would recommend for sensitive scalp are Almond Oil (also great for dry hair and scalp) and Jojoba Oil (also great for eczema). These oils are great for the scalp primarily because they consist of the same sebum that your scalp naturally produces. Aloe Vera Juice is also really good for sensitive skin and scalp; you can use it as a hair rinse or as a daily moisturizer.

How often should I moisturize my hair? At least 3 days a week, using a spray bottle with some conditioner, or a good leave-in conditioner or hair moisturizer

What is deep conditioning? It is a weekly treatment you do to nourish your strands. During this process you apply a deep conditioning product or hair mask treatment to your hair, and allow it to sit under a plastic cap or heating cap for 15-30 mins. This process allows the product to penetrate your strands, giving it nourishment and moisture from the inside out.

How often should I deep condition my hair? It’s best to deep condition the hair every week.

How often should I trim my hair? Trims should be done at least once a year, or as needed, to remove split ends that could interrupt the growing process.

What type of deep conditioning treatments would you recommend? Treatments containing some of the following ingredients:

  • Low Porosity: Avocado and banana
  • Med Porosity: Honey and Aloe Vera
  • High Porosity: Eggs and avocado

What are the LOC and LCO methods (best for low-med porosity hair)? These are methods for applying product to your hair to get the best effect or result

  • LOC (Leave-In, Oil, & Conditioner): Starting on clean damp hair and working in sections, first apply your leave-In conditioner, then your oil, and finish with your moisturising conditioner. Then complete your styling process for each section.
  • LCO (Leave-In, Conditioner, Oil): This is a variation of the LOC method where you apply a moisturizing conditioner after your leave-in, and then apply your oil to seal all of your products in.

What oils should I use for my hair? Essential oils are the best types of oils to nourish the scalp. There are several variations to choose from such as Jojobo, coconut, olive, avocado, etc.

Should I alternate my products by the seasons? Depending on where you live, alternating products throughout the year can be extremely helpful to your hair care routine. In dry and cold seasons it’s good to use products that are moisturizing as well as committing to regular deep conditioning treatments.  Whereas in the summer your hair gains so much from the moisturized air and vitamin d. Therefore, your regimen could consist of Aloe Vera juice, a good essential oil, and a conditioner, for example. Overall, knowing which products to use in different seasons is important.

How long should I keep extensions in my hair? When doing styles like weaves, cornrow extensions, box braids, and twist extensions the ideal length of time to keep them in is between 1-2 months.

How long should I go without washing while my hair is in extensions? We highly advise that you wash your hair at least every 2 weeks while wearing extensions.

How do I wash my hair whilst in extensions? The best way to wash your hair whilst in extensions is by focussing your cleansing product on your scalp and allowing the product to make its way down the remainder of the hair. This allows you to remove product build up that develops over time. Also make sure to follow up with an essential oil to apply to your hair and scalp.

How do I care for my hair whilst in extensions? It’s important to regularly moisturize and oil the scalp, as well as doing a deep condition before and after you install your extensions. Make sure not to neglect the hair while protective styling and avoid excessive pulling along the hairline (i.e. tight ponytails, updos etc.).
